Liebe, Leiden, Aktivismus – nachdem Ezra Furman bereits im Mai „Calm Down aka I Should Not Be Alone“, den ersten Song seines demnächst erscheinenden Albums „Twelve Nudes“ veröffentlichte, folgen nun zwei weitere.

„I Wanna Be Your Girlfriend“ ist laut Furman „a romantic song of transgender longing“. Wunderbar zu sehen ist das im dazu gehörenden Musikvideo, entwickelt von Alix Spence. Neben Ezra Furman stehen die Tänzer Brandon Mathis und Jobel Medina im Fokus. Spence sagt: „I saw our two dancers (…) as physical manifestations of internal suffering. I wanted to literally have us wrestle with ourselves and the complexities of our personal struggles.“

Mit „Evening Prayer“ will Furman seine Fans dazu aufrufen, Aktivist*innen zu werden: „We punk fans have so much energy to give to the fight against injustice, i.e. the abuse of the poor by the rich, i.e. climate change. So this is one to get you in the mood.“

Vorfreude für Furman-Fans: „Twelve Nudes is our punk record. (…) We drank and smoked. Then we made the loud parts louder.“ Das Album erscheint am 30. August bei Bella Union. Im November kommt Furman für drei Konzerte nach Deutschland.
